CHP 100 (3) Fundamentals of Administration

This course will provide students with a range of foundational understandings regarding administration and community development in health related roles in Aboriginal communities. (3:0:0)

Prerequisite: Admission to Community Health Promotion in Aboriginal Communities Certificate program.

CHP 110 (3) Communication & Leadership

This course will provide students with a range of foundational understandings regarding leadership and communications in health related roles in Aboriginal communities. (3:0:0)

Prerequisite: Admission to Community Health Promotion in Aboriginal Communities Certificate program.

CHP 120 (3) Emerging Health Issues & the Role of Health Promotions

Students will explore the Aboriginal world view of health and wellness and examine contemporary and emerging trends in health issues for Aboriginal communities through interaction with instructor(s), peers, local elders and community representatives. Students will also examine roles of health promotion in context with emerging trends in health issues for Aboriginal communities. (3:0:0)

Prerequisite: Admission to Community Health Promotion in Aboriginal Communities Certificate program.

CHP 140 (3) Community Health Promotion: Practicum

Introduces practical, hands-on skills required for community health promotions and opportunities to apply theory and principles learned in class. Students will be placed in health care environments within Aboriginal communities. Students, under preceptors' direction, will perform assigned activities in the health promotions role applying skills and knowledge gained throughout coursework. (0:0:0 -60)

Prerequisite: Min. "C" in all credit courses within the program.
