TESL 010 Introduction To Teaching ESL

This course provides an introductory theoretical background in the fields of Second Language Acquisition and Linguistics as well as an in-depth look at methodology and techniques for teaching and assessing specific language skills. Class work includes lectures, tests, group-work, individual assignments, and micro-teaching practice. TESL 010 was formerly called LLTE 024; credit will not be granted for both courses. (8:0:0 for 13 weeks)

Prerequisite: None.

Co-requisites: TESL 020 and TESL 030.

TESL 020 Observational Practicum

The observational practicum provides an opportunity for the student to observe a classroom teacher in ESL. TESL 020 was formerly called LLTE 025; credit will not be granted for both courses. (0:0:0 -10 for 2 weeks)

Prerequisite: Admission into the TEFL Program and successful completion of TESL 010.

TESL 030 Teaching Practicum

The teaching practicum provides an opportunity for students to apply and practice the skills learned in the program, working with an ESL student or class. This module includes hours in the classroom, as well as orientation and feedback sessions. TESL 030 was formerly called LLTE 027; credit will not be granted for both courses. (0:0:0 -10 for 0 weeks)
